Police Speaks Out As Pastor and Bodyguard Shot In Kampala

On Tuesday night in Kampala, unidentified gunmen shot a prominent pastor and his bodyguard in what the police have described as an attempted murder.

At Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road in Kasubi, Rubaga Division, Pastor Alloysious Bugingo, the founder of the House of Prayer Ministry, was driving his car with the license plate PRAIZ GOD when two men on a motorcycle ambushed him.

The assailants fired several shots at the pastor’s car, injuring him and killing his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard, on the spot. Pastor Bugingo, however, managed to drive himself to Mulago Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and is in stable condition.

The Old Kampala Police, who are looking into the incident, claimed that some people had tampered with the crime scene before they arrived. They have collected statements from eyewitnesses and taken the body of the deceased to the city mortuary for a postmortem examination.

The police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and track down the suspects, who fled the scene after the shooting. They have appealed to the public to provide any information that may help in the investigation.

Pastor Bugingo is a popular preacher and radio personality who has been involved in several controversies in the past, including a divorce case with his estranged wife and a land dispute with his former church members.

The motive behind the attack is still unclear, and no group or individual has claimed responsibility for it. The police have assured the public that they are doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent such incidents from happening again.
