Ruby Opio, a judge of the Supreme Court, has passed away.
Judge Ruby Opio Aweri of the Supreme Court has passed away. Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo announced today, Wednesday, December 7, 2022, that Justice Opio passed away at Mulago Specialized Hospital in Kampala.
But he kept quiet on specifics. As he progressed through the ranks to become a justice of the Supreme Court, a post he maintained up until his death, Justice Opio began his career in the legal system in 1983 as a Magistrate Grade One.
Justice Opio Aweri was promoted to a justice of the Court of Appeal in 2013 and the Supreme Court in 2015 as a career judicial officer, the Chief Justice claims. Justice Opio Aweri was appointed to the High Court in 1998.
