NHCC SET TO OPEN MBARARA, MBALE REGIONAL OFFICES AS PART OF 60 YEARS OF CELEBRATIONS

As part of National Housing and Construction Company (NHCCL) 60 year’s celebration, the company woll open Mbarara and Mbale Regional Offices to expand services country wide.

The State enterprise has a mandate to increase the housing stocks in the country, rehabilitate the housing industry and encourage Ugandans to own homes in an organized environment.
Eng Kenneth Kaijuka NHCC Chief Executive Officer appeals to government to support the company’s strategic direction of building affordable housing for the growing Uganda population.
He noted that says lack of real estates law in place has resulted into unregulated real estates business practices, poor planning and developments in Uganda urban cities.
“We would like legislators to help us enact real estates bill into law. We are every certain that once this law is in place will regulate the current mixed developments and stream line real estate stakeholders,” Kaijuka said.
National Housing and Construction Company Ltd (NHCC) was established by an Act of Parliament (Cap 321) of 1964. National Housing and Construction Company Ltd is Uganda’s leading housing developer and its mandate is to increase the housing Stocks in the country, rehabilitate the housing industry and encourage Ugandans to own homes in an organized environment.
By 2020 Kampala housing reached 750,791 units, other towns 1,092,318 units, rural areas 8,482,889 units and nationally 10,325,990 units. Under the provisions of the PERD Act.
On the 10th December 2009, National Housing and Construction Company re-branded changing its image with a major objective of promising Ugandans Value for money as it seeks to increase the housing stock in the country, rehabilitate the housing industry and encourage Ugandans to own homes in an organized environment.
National Housing and Construction Corporation (NHCC) a state enterprise mandated to build affordable housing for the population is pushing for the enactment of real estates bill into law.
NHCC was honoured as the Best Visionary Government Property Developer of the Year 2020. The award was in recognition of the outstanding contribution towards Uganda Middle Income Status Aspiration and Vision 2040 on the 3rd of December 2020 by president Yoweri Museveni.
NHCC owns houses in Lubowa, Bugolobi, Nakasero, Kololo, Mbarara, Namugoona, Jinja, Naalya, Kiwatule and Wakiso.
According to Kaijuka plans are underway to roll out construction of more affordable houses in Kampala in places like Kasokoso, Bukerere, Naalya, Bugolobi including lira, Mbarara and Mbale districts in a bid to address housing deficit.
This move will solve 1.5million housing units deficit per year and address current housing needs due to high population growth rate of 3.4%.
