UPDF Helicopter Crashes in Rural Village, Cause Under Investigation
A Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) helicopter crashed in Nyamisigiri Village, Kicwamba sub-county, Kabarole District, on Tuesday afternoon, raising concerns and leaving a trail of destruction. While initial reports indicate the incident was accidental, the cause remains under investigation.
UPDF Air Force spokesperson Maj. Naboth Mugisha confirmed the crash, stating, “This was purely an accident, and details of what has happened are yet to be gotten.”
Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene, claiming the helicopter clipped a house rooftop before erupting in flames. Fortunately, no immediate reports of casualties have surfaced.
This crash comes as a shock to the local community and the nation at large. The UPDF plays a vital role in Uganda’s security and stability, and any incident involving its personnel or equipment is cause for concern.
