MASAKA, Uganda – A fatal bus accident on the Kampala-Mbarara Road left one individual seriously injured earlier today. The crash occurred around 11 AM when a Global Coach bus with license plate UBB 985M lost control on the rain-slicked highway near Kyekurura in Lwengo District.
According to SP Kasirye Twaha, Public Relations Officer for Greater Masaka, the driver likely lost control due to wet road conditions after heavy rainfall. The bus veered off the road shortly after passing Kinoni center.
One passenger sustained grave injuries in the incident and was swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility by local authorities and helpful bystanders. Ambulances have been dispatched to transfer the victim to Masaka Referral Hospital for intensive treatment.
Officials cautioned drivers, especially during Uganda’s rainy season, to remain vigilant and avoid speeding on slippery roads to prevent similar crashes. Additional updates will be provided as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the lethal accident.
