Man Arrested for Hacking Wife to Death Over Conjugal Rights and Cheating

Ssembabule, Uganda – A 66-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 40-year-old wife in Ssembabule district on August 8th, 2023.

Kyeyune Aloysius, a peasant from Kyambogo village in Nyabitanga sub-county, is accused of hacking his wife Nassazi Glades to death with a hoe during a domestic dispute.

According to police spokesperson SCP Enanga Fred, the couple had been having marital issues and sleeping in separate rooms. On the day of the incident, Aloysius accused Glades of denying him conjugal rights and cheating on him with other men in their home. In a fit of jealous rage, Aloysius struck his wife on the head with a hoe, killing her instantly around 4pm.

“We continue to strongly condemn such marital murders. The victim died in a violent manner, after she was hit with a hoe on the head. We cannot tolerate such violent acts in relationships and the wider community,” said Enanga.

This brutal murder highlights the toxic effects of jealousy and the denial of conjugal rights within marriages in Uganda. Police have Aloysius in custody and are investigating the case further.
