JUST IN: Tears as Museveni’s Minister Denied Bail, Sent Back to Jail

The Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Mary Goretti Kitutu, has found herself in a difficult situation after being denied bail by the Anti-Corruption Court. The court’s decision came after Kitutu had spent the Easter weekend in Luzira Prison.

She had returned to court for the ruling on her bail application that was submitted last week. Unfortunately, the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala declined her bail on the grounds that her sureties were not substantial enough.

This decision has left the minister in a precarious position as she continues to await trial.

The news of the Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Mary Goretti Kitutu, being charged with her brother Michael Naboya Kitutu and Joshua Abaho, the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs Office of the Prime Minister, has sent shockwaves across the country.

According to the charge sheet, Kitutu is accused of causing a loss of public property by diverting 9,000 pre-painted iron sheets that were meant for the Karamoja Community Empowerment Program to her own benefit and that of third parties between June 2022 and January 2023.

It is also alleged that in January 2023, Kitutu diverted 5,500 iron sheets, and her brother received 100 of them in Namisindwa district.

These allegations are serious and have raised concerns about corruption in the government.
