Bobi Wine Slams MPs’ Hypocrisy as Namuganza Crumbles
Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, more commonly known as Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has expressed his disappointment with the behaviour of the lawmakers during the censure of Lands Minister Persis Namuganza.
Yesterday, MPs decided to condemn Namuganza for his rude behavior and disparaging statements. There were at least 356 lawmakers present in the House. 5 of the 348 lawmakers who supported the censure of Namuganza opposed the measure, and 3 others chose to abstain.
Following the recommendation of an ad hoc committee led by Mwine Mpaka, the Minister of Lands, Betty Namuganza, was censured for her role in the Naguru-Nakawa land allotment and her contempt for the legislature.
The committee’s report concluded that Namuganza had failed to maintain the public’s trust in Parliament’s independence by failing to behave consistently.
Bobi Wine commented on the happenings and questioned why MPs showed up in big numbers for these sessions but not at all for essential discussions.
He accused the parliament’s speaker, Anita Among, of manipulating debates to embarrass or punish her critics.
