BREAKING: Everton has fired Frank Lampard.

Everton have fired Frank Lampard following their 2-0 loss at West Ham United.

On Monday, Everton’s owners decided to part ways with Lampard.

After losing 2-0 to West Ham United, Everton has fired Frank Lampard.

The board decided to take action after Lampard’s team lost 2-1 to Southampton, who were in 20th place at the time. Everton is only separated from the bottom of the standings by goal difference.

In 20 Premier League games this season, the Merseyside club has only managed three victories, the most recent of which came against Crystal Palace on October 22. No team in the division has won fewer games than they have thus far.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri supported Lampard before the Southampton game, but following West Ham’s defeat, he said it was “not his decision” to fire him.

Lampard, however, had already suffered enough setbacks after losing to fellow underachievers West Ham.

Only an Ollie Watkins late victory for Aston Villa against Southampton kept Everton from finishing the day at the foot of the table after Jarrod Bowen’s two first-half goals effectively put the game out of reach.

Following the resignation of Rafa Benitez, Lampard assumed control of Everton in January 2022. Everton avoided relegation last season and finished with 39 points under Lampard.

Everton started the 2022–23 season well after spending £84 million on seven permanent hires over the previous summer. In their first eight league games, they only suffered two losses, and by the start of October, they were ranked 11th in the Premier League.

Lampard has had his responsibilities at a Premier League team terminated twice, most recently this time. After a string of disappointing performances that left his old team in ninth place, he was fired by Chelsea in January 2021.

The next game for Everton is on Saturday, February 4 against top-of-the-table Arsenal, followed by a Merseyside derby against Liverpool nine days later.
