CONFIRMED: Top Former Official in Museveni’s Gov’t is Dead

Sad news has been reported that the former Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, John Mitala, has passed away. According to a close family member, Mitala died last evening after months of hospitalization.

Dr. Mitala had a long and distinguished career in public service spanning nearly five decades; in September of last year, he handed over his official duties to former State House Comptroller, Lucy Nakyobe.

Mr Mitala was a dedicated public servant, having worked for the government for over 45 years since 1973.

He was highly regarded for his steadfastness and incorruptibility.

Unfortunately, the cause of his death is yet to be confirmed, though some of his family members have suggested that there may have been foul play involved.
