Movers of Ugandan music industry have reacted to the surprising news of Edrisah Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo being nominated for world’s 2023 Grammy awards under the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category.
The singer has been nominated alongside 9 other stars including Burna Boy from Nigeria. Other nominees in the mentioned category include; Arooj Aftab (Pakistani based in the US), Anoushka Shankar (British American), Matt B (American), Rocky Dawuni (Ghanaian), Black Hero (Jamaican), Wouter Kellerman (South African), Zakes Bantwini (South African) and Nomcebo Zikode (South African).
Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool has taken it to his facebook page to Congratulate the BET award winner for scooping a Grammy nomination, attributing his music success to his humble behaviour, saying that his nomination is a win for all of us as Ugandans.
“Congratulations my young brother Eddy Kenzo on your Grammy nomination, your humble behavior will always be the key to open all your opportunities. May Allah bless you more coz this nomination is a win for you and all of us as Ugandans. Let’s bring this Grammy to Uganda”. Bebe Cool statement reads
Mayanja Joseph alias Ke also expressed his excitement ad gratitude towards the big talent boss referring to him as a champion with unlimited opportunities.
TV personality Douglass Lwanga stated that he’s proud to support Eddy Kenzo now that he’s a Grammy Award Nominee
“From BET winner to now a Grammy Award Nominee. If this doesn’t make you proud to support Eddy Kenzo what will? Congratulations Uganda, Congz Eddy Kenzo”. Douglass Lwanga tweeted.
Eddy Kenzo received his first international recognition after the release of his 2014 single, ‘Sitya Loss’, and an accompanying viral video that featured the Triplets Ghetto Kids.
He was the first Ugandan artist to win the BET award in 2015 and is now the second Ugandan artist to be nominated for a Grammy award
