Prison Warder identified as Otim Jacob attached to Bugungu Y.O Prison in Buikwe district has today morning shot to death two fellow staff namely; Abwot Eunice and Namanya Edward over reasons not yet established.
According to Frank Baine, Otim Jacob, now in police custody obtained a gun to go for general duties only to head to the Sentry where WDRSS Abwot Eunice was working and shot her dead instantly. On hearing the sound of the Gun, the second sentry, Namanya Edward came to establish the cause of shooting and was too shot dead.
“On a very sad note, this morning a Prison Warder NO. 16734 Otim Jacob aged 28 years attached to Bugungu Y.O Prison shot to death two fellow staff namely; NO. 16699 WDRSS ADWot Eunice (25 years) and NO. 18061 WDR Namanya Edward (29 years) of the same station. The incident occurred at around 0715 HRS in the morning when WDR Otim Jacob signed a gun to go for general duties only to head to the Sentry where WDRSS Abwot Eunice was working and shot her dead instantly. On hearing the sound of the Gun, the second sentry, WDR Namanya Edward came to establish the cause of shooting. Unfortunately, he was too shot dead by Otim”. After shooting colleagues dead, Otim tried to commit suicide but failed and he was subdued by other staff members who were on duty. Police was called in immediately and it over the crime scene, exhibits and the culprit for further management

The Late Abwot Eunice hails from Laroo Sub-County, Gulu District whereas late Namanya Edward is from Rwamucucu Sub-County, Rukiga District.
