Members of Parliament subscribing to National Unity Platform Party (NUP) party have today afternoon through their leader of opposition Mathias Mpuuga handed over 34 million shillings to support the party’s efforts to repatriate Ugandans who are stranded in Arab countries.
Mathias Mpuuga handed the money in cash to the NUP secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya at the parliament premises in witness of other Several NUP members of Parliament.
It should be noted that NUP party has been leading the campaign to bring back stranded and detained Ugandans in UAE and it has so far repatriated over 42 Ugandans.
Recently, Ugandan local singer Namukwaya Hajarah, alias Spice Diana donated a chunk of shs. 3.4 million to help in purchasing air tickets for 4 girls to come back to Uganda. (See story here)
The Uganda gov’t has since then joined the efforts to repatriate more stranded Ugandans and so and more than 150 Ugandans have already been repatriated.
