Joy as Bobi Wine receives first batch Ugandans rescued from Dubai Detention Jails. (See Photos)

National Unity Platform (NUP) Party President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has announced the arrival of first batch of at least 12 Ugandans who have been stuck at Dubai’s Al-Awir Deportation Jail for several months.

The arrival of the 12 Ugandans follows the fundraising campaign that was recently initiated by NUP party in a bid of rescuing Ugandans who are currently stranded and detained in different Arab countries.

According to Bobi Wine who has so far interacted with these Ugandans, their stories are full of sadness whereby others had to flee the fled dehumanizing conditions, only finding themselves in detention centers.

“Very delighted this evening to receive the first batch of 12 Ugandans who have been stuck at Al Awir Deportation Jail for several months! The stories are sad. Many fled dehumanizing conditions and ended up in the detention. Grateful to all of you who have embraced this effort!” Part of Bobi Wine’s statement reads.

Kyagulanyi also called upon and encouraged all leaders, political parties, religious institutions, the business community and all people of good-will to pick interest in the plight of our people stuck in detention in the Middle East and support their return home.

“This is a national and indeed African call. I encourage all leaders, political parties, religious institutions, the business community and all people of good-will to pick interest in the plight of our people stuck in detention in the Middle East and support their return home”. Bobi Wine states.

When Bobi Wine’s political Party undertook efforts of returning Ugandans who are detained in Dubai, he donated Shs10 million toward the cause.
